Stockton I -5 Improvement

Project Description:

This ambitious Measure K funded project improves approximately 4.5 miles of Interstate 5 right through the heart of Stockton. The project adds auxiliary and HOV lanes in both directions. The corridor improvements included modifications to 12 roadway/waterway over crossings. The VVH survey group was part of the design team led by Rajappan and Meyer Consulting Engineers. VVH surveyors provided all aspects of the design surveys which included full Caltrans A-B-C mapping for the project, specifically; project control surveys, static GPS post-processed data, aerial mapping and control stations, utility mapping, lane closures for conform surveys and detailed structure surveys. This highly traveled route required the lane conform surveys to be performed during evening hours. A detailed lane closure plan was prepared based on the Highway Patrol and Caltrans closure windows, which on some days were as short as a few hours. The survey control was blue-booked per Caltrans Surveys Manual Procedures.

The services provided by VVH Consulting Engineers included:

  • Caltrans A-B-C Topographic and Aerial Surveys
  • Detailed Structure Surveys
  • Lane Conform Surveys
  • Topographic Mapping
